Canada Tour 2019-Québec/Montreal

Event Details:

Each year, our SYV singers have had the privilege of joining a national/international choir festival with other youth choirs from around the world.  But this year’s annual choir tour to Canada was particularly “heartfelt”.   Our group traveled on an exclusively “SYV only” tour to the beautiful Quebéc City & Montreal as well as to our Director’s home town of Sherbrooke.  Singers and chaperones traveled along the cobblestone streets of the historic district of Quebec city’s shops and cafes sampling local delights like fruit crepes, Crepe Suzette and of course the famous poutine.  They viewed the the changing of the guard at La Citadellé de Québec and performed in the oldest church, the Cathedral-Basilica of Notre-Dame de Québec which dates back to 1633!  An elegant evening dinner cruise on the local le Bateau-Mouche along the St. Lawrence river (a glass ceiling boat)  was also among fun events.  Our singers performed their repertoire several times while visiting sites including the Abbaye Saint Benoît-du-Lac and the Cathédrale Saint Michel.  Other experiences include local museums , cheese tasting, scenic hikes ,sampling of fresh local maple syrup, and even an evening of dancing.  We are incredibly proud of the job done by our singers, who are already asking for a return trip to the “Great White (green in summer) North’!
