Colorado-Up On The Mountain Tour 2022
From our fundraiser event with memorable songs from “Take Me Home, Country Roads to Edelweiss” our group was ready to take on the majestic mountains of Colorado. We traveled to the “Sing a Mile High” choir festival with the anticipation of mountain breezes and ready experience Denver! Our first stop was Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre with amazing views and even more astonishing sound as we sang acapella for onlookers. Next we enjoyed treats & entertained the staff at the famous Hammond’s Candy Factory and then soon departed for our festival destination at the University of Denver. At the University, we had amazing rehearsals with Dr. Rollo Dilworth & Jena Dickey, ice cream socials with the other choirs and a preview to some of our older students of dormitory/college life for a couple days. Our tour reached its “pinnacle” with a combined performance of all choirs as we boarded our buses the next day for more of the local sites. We finished by singing our famous “Up on the Mountain” at a very cold and windy & rainy Pikes Peak then off to the Garden of the Gods before returning home. All in all, with a few stumbling blocks (some Covid outbreaks among some choristers) we came out showing our best with our little Sarasota group and impressed everyone with our determination to keep on singing!
